Chabad of Maui will celebrate the first night of Hanukkah at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Kalama Park in Kihei.

The event will include the lighting of the 9-foot tiki menorah, music, and traditional holiday refreshments.

It will also feature DJ Meloday Jay live Hanukkah set.

Hanukkah, the holiday of light, celebrates the triumph of light over dark, good over evil, according to a news release.

The event is co-sponsored by Shine A Light, a national initiative to spotlight modern day antisemitism including anti-Zionism. It is open to the public.
